We are days away from the premiere race of the inaugural Tour de Finn Ski Series. Come jump on the bandwagon!
Some Tour de Finn updates:
Minnesota Nordic Opener
We are super excited to kick off the inaugural season with the Minnesota Nordic Opener, hosted by Three Rivers Park District! The Skadi’s Chase 8K is a freestyle event, so while most folks will skate, classic tracks are available. Event details are available on their website. Elm Creek has been working hard to get a solid loop available and we can’t wait to chase it.
While you’re at the Nordic Opener, come visit Finn Sisu AND the Tour de Finn tent in the Nordic Market! We want to hear what races you’re doing this year and which we should include next year in the series. Demo skis available at the Finn Sisu tent next door.
Team Registration!
If you’re still compiling your perfect team, no worries, you have time! Well, you have until January 5. And beyond that too, but your points will only be calculated from the time of registration.
But shout-out to Team Birkie for submitting the FIRST TEAM! “Team Birkie Marathon” includes Jenna Nelson, Delaney Fitzpatrick, Katie Susong, Zach Nelson, Sam Holt and Jake Stiele.
Team Captain Jenna Nelson commented, “The Tour de Finn Series is a great idea to help promote smaller races and get people excited about racing all the different distances, not just the “long” ones. I am planning on racing Skadi’s Chase this weekend for Team Birkie along with many of the other Team Birkie marathon athletes. I am looking forward to the first early season warm-up race on snow, as I prepare for longer marathons starting in January! While we haven’t been skiing on snow for long, it’ll be a fun event to prelude the MN Nordic Opener event.”
Hot on their tails, the Flying Fungi of Yuggoth team has submitted a hearty crew, and you can be next!
If you’re counting, note that you don’t need ten people to be a team. Any number under ten will do. The top 3 skiers of each gender will be counted each race for team scoring. Go to tourdefinn.com for full points details and team registration!
Door Prizes ✨
The Tour de Finn has some fantastic sponsors this year - thank you to Atomic, Rex, KV+, EnjoyWinter, and Finn Sisu for providing both end of season awards and door prizes, but also on-going door prizes throughout the season.
To kick things off, we have three prizes to award from the Skadi’s Chase:
- Atomic is sponsoring a “Secret Advantage” prize for a team participant who is the closest to the minimum points number (20) but just above it. How’s that for specific?
