Upcoming races preview for the Tour de Finn race series.
Hey everyone,
Hope you got a winter break filled with ski time and relaxation.
The Tour de Finn is coming in hot here in the New Year, so let’s check in -
JAN 1: Hiito Relays - Props to Finn Sisu for putting out a new relay race at Battle Creek. This two-person freestyle event is here to start your 2025, and thoughtfully starts late morning at 11 am. 2 x 2.5 km per skier. Online registration is closed but come if you missed it, come hang out!
Also, shout-out to David Joda and Adam Mahar for getting a 50K on the calendar this weekend at BC too - may the new races keep us feeling inspired and the hills of BC keep us challenged. And thanks to Ramsey County for hosting citizen races.
JAN 4: First Chance Ski Race - this Mora staple is a fun get-away, and always well-run by the wonderful Mora community. They have a snowmaking loop in place, and are blowing additional snow as the temps come back down this week. Exact distance of their course to be confirmed, but as always, they are doing what they can to bring you the best course possible. The race has 5k/10k skate options.
Jan 8: Dirtbag Series - Okay, the Dirtbag Series - we were really hoping for some natural snow to slide around on here. Call it Dirtbag optimism but the Dirtbag didn’t have a back-up. They show up when the moment is right. Calling a hold on this micro-series until Mother Nature comes around.
On deck, we have the Low-pet Law-pet Ski Challenge 10K (Note the kids race - 1 & 3K options - for anyone interested in the Skiwerx Series!) on Jan 12, and RiverView Loppet 18k classic on Jan 18, Marine O’Brien 12k classic on the 19th (bring on the classic races!). The last two are weather dependent. More updates to come.
We’ll have real points to compare after these next two races so check back for individual and team updates - and everyone thank Karl if you see him!
