High School Gear Checklist

All the gear you need for the high school Nordic season!

New to high-school Nordic racing? Or a returning athlete wanting to upgrade equipment? Here's everything you need for a fun and successful season:

 

Gear: 

  • Skate skis 

 

    • Entry level (ideal for new skiers, those growing quickly, etc.) 
      • Atomic S2 
      • Peltonen Acadia 

 

    • Mid-level (JV or Varsity racers, entry race skis) 
      • Peltonen Zenith 
      • Yoko YXC 

 

  • Classic skis – depends on sizing availability. Check with your team if you need kick-waxable skis or skin skis!

Soft Goods and Accessories: 

    • Baselayers
      • Craft base layer top and bottom set - $ 
      • Wind briefs are essential for boys! 

 

    • Wool socks 
      • Light weight or mediume weight 

 

    • Ski jacket and ski pants – any brand 
      • Wind proof in the front, and breathable in the back 

 

    • Buff, hat, or headband 

 

    • Gloves or mittens 
      • Split mitts are great for staying warm like a mitten but make it easier to hold onto your poles.

 

    • Water belt – any brand 

 

    • Fleece boot covers are a great addition if you often have cold feet!
